I Will Follow You

"Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men." Mark 1:17 (NIV)
"Where you go, I'll go
Where you stay, I'll stay
When you move, I'll move
I will follow you
Who you love, I'll love
How you serve I'll serve
If this life I lose, I will follow you
I will follow you"

Packing, purple hair, see-you-later's, and lots of travel!

Hey, everyone!
Tomorrow I set out on my next adventure!
I've been packing and re-packing all week.
We packed up the car tonight.

So, at the beginning of September, I promised that if I could raise $1,000 in one month, I would dye my hair a crazy color! I also added, if I could raise the last of my funds, my entire family would dye their hair.
Well, unfortunately, I did not finish but God was soo good! I raised a total of $2,534 in just one month and some odd days! WOW!

So, I dyed my hair PURPLE

I really enjoyed the color change. I've never been one to do anything other than lightening my blonde hair. I could totally see myself doing this again in the future. haha!

And I DID go out in public. Dad and I had a nice date at Chili's.

So I am now down to only $1,580 left to raise!
PRAISE GOD!

These last two months have been incredible. God has been blowing my mind. The odds seemed impossible. The mountain was huge in January.
It is just a small hill, now in October.
My God is a MOUNTAIN MOVER!

PRAYER REQUESTS:
- Friday and Saturday will be long days full of see you later's and lots of travel. Pray for safety, and sounds minds as we make the 19 hr + drive to Minnesota.
- My family as the transition of me not being home hits them.
- For me as I transition to this new season of my life.
- For me and my host home, whom I am starting to know and cannot wait to meet on Sunday!
- That all financial needs will be met (the last $1580 and personal financial needs.)
- My grandparent as they continue on a long road trip to multiple states, back to GA and then home to NY, all after they take me to MN!
- All of the Kairos students as they continue to make their way to Minneapolis this weekend.
- Orientation will start on Monday. It will be a camping trip. Pray that my team will bond in incredible ways! Let our year start off amazing!!!

NEEDS:
I will be needing $10 a week for gas. I will be carpooling with another team member and will have to pay them for gas. If this is something you can help out with, once, twice or for the whole month (or any amount to go towards gas) let me know and I will make sure you know how you can get it to me : kandykat.410@gmail.com

T- 16 Days

That's right! I leave in 16 days! It's crazy how time flies. It feels so real yet unreal at the same time.
As of today, I am down to $2,820 left to raise!

(Before I continue, if you are reading this post, GREAT! I just want to ask and make sure you also "Join this Site" or let me know you are receiving the emails! I just want to keep track of who all is staying updated! Thanks!)

At the beginning of the month, I sent out a second round of support letters. In these letters I said, "If I can raise $1,000 this month, I will dye my hair a crazy color (I asked for votes and so far I have only gotten one vote. haha)
Well, as of today, September 23rd, 2014, I have raised $1,084 this month alone!!!

Guess I will be dying my hair in couple weeks!
BUT I also said that if I could finish my fundraising this month, my entire family would dye their hair the same color and we would all go out in public together, as a celebration for reaching the end!
I am soo close to seeing my Dad, -The History Teacher, The Football Coach, The Manly-Man, 6 foot something MAN with pink or purple hair. Come on! How many daughters get to see that in their lifetime? Haha! PRAY HARD that I get to see this come true!

This weekend I am going down to visit with my Aunt and Uncle and their kids. It will be great to see them and hang out with them before I leave.

Next week is my last week at Publix. So far I am only scheduled 2 shifts (one more this week). So I only have 3 to go! Though I am hoping and praying that I can get an extra one or two for Thursday and Friday. Gotta finish strong!

Going to be starting to pack soon.
It's a little overwhelming to think about all the changes coming up so soon!
One  more Sunday at my church.
Two more youth services on Wednesday nights.
Three more shifts at Publix.
16 more days at home.

Today I spoke at my old school, Praise Academy (Here in Powder Springs, GA).
I spoke about Nepal, Colombia, and Kairos.
There were over 300 students and faculty in chapel today. God gave me the peace I needed, when I needed it.

And lastly, it was 5 years ago this month that God first place a call into missions into my heart. Forever thankfull!!!
5 years ago, I was sitting in a chapel service, just like the one I spoke at, in the exact same room. My life has never been the same! :)

Until next time!

Love,

Kairos : The start of something new!

Makes me sad that I really only blogged 7 times here but I am so excited to start it back up! I can only hope that all of my supporters will follow along on this journey that, without their help (and with God's help) would not have been possible.
So if you were one of the people that sacrificed for me, THANK YOU. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for making this dream a reality.
Photo: $4,114 left to go! #kairos2015 #reignministries #missionsGod used you to accomplish His plan and I pray that He blesses you all for it.

I still have, as of today, $4,114 left to raise. (120 gifts of $35 will finish!) but I know God will continue to bring it in and finish what He has called me to do. So I am trying to be patient and watch how the end will enfold.

Today marks the one month date till I leave. The plan is that my grandparents will drive me up to Minneapolis, Minnesota on October 10th.  There is an opening ceremony on Sunday, Oct. 12th where I will meet my team face to face (we have been talking through social media for a week or two now) and I will meet my host family (although I will get to find out who they are at the start of the month and can contact them). I am so excited!

I will go home with my host family after the ceremony and I assume would be to unpack and settle in. But also to pack and get ready for Kairos Orientation the next day! We will be doing a camping trip to northern Minnesota along Lake Superior! I'm nervous but so excited! I have never gone real camping before, only training camp for Royal Servants (Nepal).

I have a lot I still need to get before I leave. Some on the list includes : shorts, long sleeve shirts, thermal clothing, rain clothing, hiking boots, snow boots, and a bunch of other things. Though I am all set on shampoo's, conditioner's, and deodorants. And a head start on vitamins! ;)

This month will be a crazy busy month as I get ready to leave, see and hang out with people for the last time for awhile, visit family and work, work, work!!

I guess that is it for now! Thanks for reading! Thanks for giving! Thanks for praying! Thanks for overall, investing in my calling to missions and ministry. Talk to you again soon!

God bless!

Waterfalls abounding...

So awesome story here.
On our way to Pokhara from Kathmandu, we were passing some mini streams that were waterfalls. I thought they were so pretty and I was wishing I could see a bigger one. Well amazingly enough, God granted that wish to me.
We got to stop at a huge waterfall!!
It was gorgeous and exhilarating!
Adrenaline was rushing through me (yes a waterfall can do that to me, so you could imagine how white water rafting affected me if I got uber excited just by this).
This was such a great moment. I got to walk barefoot on a waterfall river bed on stones that were so smooth...oh... haha it was truly wonderful. Not to mention the fact that if you let the water carry you, you would die. The little river bed dropped off about 20-30 feet away down to a rock steep death. Good thing it was only like 3 inches deep.

God made me smile this day :)

Serious and Funny moments in a temple

Before ministry in the Tibetan refuge camp (I am almost positive that this temple was at the camp) we had the chance to check this temple/ monastery out.
Then afterwards we got to go back while the monks were doing recitations and chants inside.
Hearing the chants and 'music' was pretty eerie. While sitting on a pew (yes I was able to sit on a pew just like this pic but on the other side of the room) I was in a deep thought about spiritual things when I looked down and what do I see on the floor? A nasty cockroach. I quickly pulled my feet up and so did my friend who was sitting next to me. I thought I was safe but that diminished. The cockroach decided to crawl up next to my feet on the pew! Trying not to make a scene during the ceremony thing, I got up (more like jumped up) and walked behind the pews and was going to sit on the floor but just as I was about to sit, what decides to get on the floor and come over to me? The stupid cockroach! So I ran back to my seat and the cockroach finally left me alone. I am glad I didn't make a scene. How embarrassing would that have been? haha

A squattie...

Yes,
Here it is folks.

A squattie pottie...

They actually are not that hard to use. I consider myself pro at it from the beginning.
Never had to use that change of clothes in my backpack :)
This particular one was located at the Leper colony so it isn't very nice. I have used nicer ones than this. This is a poor mans squattie I guess you could say.
